Liz Phair's musical legacy packed Chop Suey last night, as Seattle's indie rock scene turned out to wish Three Imaginary Girls a happy sixth birthday, and Phair's Exile in Guyville a happy fifteenth. In truth, the affair had an insider-ish feel, with a large number of people we recognize from the local music industry, due both to TIG's status as the local Pitchfork and to Exile's status as a cult album.

Seattle Sound Magazine posted a really rad online article about Blush Photo photographer, Kristen Truax, hangin' out with Star Anna, Shane Tutmarc, and Kyle Hawkins for a couple of days. Read here!

Star Anna's debut release, "Crooked Path" has been getting some incredible reviews. "Best debut release" is poppin' up all over the place. "We had another solid week at college radio! A few new stations added
the record this week including KCSS in Turlock CA, KBVR in Corvalis
OR, WSYC in Shippensburg PA, WJCU University Heights OH, and WPSC in
Wayne NJ. KSYM in San Antonio TX is a key station that is playing the
record heavily with 3+ spins a week. A big list of stations also took
the record from light to medium rotation this week including WODU in
Norfolk VA, WHRW in Binghamton NY, WVAU in Washington DC, and WVFI
in Notre Dame IN, and KXUL in Monroe LA. 150 total stations so far
have at least added the record!"

On Jan. 8, 2008, the Plantary Group reported "this week marks the return of college radio in the new year, and I wanted to let you know how we’ve been doing so far. So far in the campaign, we’ve got 130 stations who have added the record to their rotation, with new adds coming in this week from WCCS from Norton, MA, KNSU in Thibodaux, LA, KRUI in Iowa City, IA, and WERU in East Orland, ME. Although two stations who charted the record previously did not report this week, we did pick a debut at WGDR in Plainfield, VT, coming in at #29.

The Plantary Group, a radio promotion company in Boston, reported Dec 11, 2008 that "support for Beth Whitney's "Leave Your Shoes" is continuing to build. This week we saw some good play from KBSU, SFR, KURE, WARY, WSUC, WESS, WMUH and WCWP to name a few. We saw some spins come in from KSYM who was playing “Miss Misery” and “Be Thou My Vision”. There was also a spin on “Miss Misery” from KBCS a great core station in Bellevue, WA!

Star Anna's single, "If Wish Were Horses" off her new cd "Crooked Path" goes into video production under the direction of Sam Akina. His treatment of this gothic American video starts with "Song opens as we cut to various shots that establish the mood of a noir-country/rugged desert wasteland theme: in a wide open field, clouds race across the sky behind the rusted metal shell of a ‘57 Chevy; a dusty road in the center of a small dilapidated township like the land that time forgot. CLOSE ON the hood ornament and the grill like metal teeth in our face.
